Ongoing Hotel Build Initiatives Complimentary Wireless Broadband throughout the hotel A new contemporary-style BISTRO Bar is now open!  With exciting new menus and state-of-the-art Audio Visual Equipment, this completely refurbished bar has an outdoor balcony area overlooking the courtyard. In association with the Bush Hotel, the adjacent building has been redeveloped as the Good Food Hall.  In a Courtyard setting with character and charm, this fabulous new initiatiive is home to many gourmet foods and a great selection of cheese and wine.  With a very popular juice bar, the Good Food Hall is well worth a visit! Planning permission has recently been granted for 3 retail units, additional accommodation and 3 conference suites. Refurbishment of bedrooms and other areas of the hotel is ongoing. A magnificent antique grand piano (Collard & Collard, 1901) is the centerpiece of the recently upgraded foyer/reception, which was kindly donated by a long-established Carrick-on-Shannon family, for which we are very grateful.  A new Roof Garden is also proposed. IN ADDITION to our Conferencing facilities, we recently completed an additional fully equipped state-of-the-art boardroom.

Ongoing Management Initiatives Adopt a Road Campaign The Hotel is proud to be part of the combat litter campaign a unique initiative launched in Leitrim. Working closely with Leitrim County Council, the Hotel has 'adopted' a stretch of road and members of Bush staff equiped with high visability jackets and litter picking equipment (Supplied by Leitrim County Council) will collect litter. This campaign sees the Hotel working in partnership with other major businesses in the town. Green Irish Hotels Program The Bush is one of just 20 Irish hotels selected for pilot participation in the Green Irish Hotels Program. The objective is to establish industry benchmarks and develop a best practice environmental management system for the Irish hotels sector. The program is supported by the NDP and the EPA. Greenbox The Hotel is set to become part of the "Greenbox Network" which is a network of Eco- tourism providers. Failte Ireland Optimus Service Excellence Programme The Optimus Service Excellence progamme has been put in place to recognise and reward Irish Organisations for implementing and delivering excellence customer service. Optimus assists companies to put systems in place to continually review and improve standard of service and quality. Completion of the Irish Hotel Federations Quality Employers Programme (QEP) The Bush Hotel has successfully completed the QEP, which is a prestigious award and achievement for our Hotel. This Programme ensures best practices are in place within the company. Feile Bia The Hotel operates in partnership with the Feile Bia Programme a commitment to our guests and customers that all our meat and poultry products have been sourced locally (where possible) from quality suppliers under the Feile Bia Programme. Failte Ireland Management Development Programme 2006/07 The Hotel is delighted to participate in this programme which is running over the next few months, broadening management concepts and skills in the areas of marketing, operations, human resources and finance, some modules being held at Cornell University, New York. Work Placement Programme at the Bush The Hotel continues to be a local leader in its ongoing Programme of Work Placement in the tourism sector currently there are a number of students working within the hotel in placement areas such as Chef, Reception, Marketing, and Banqueting. Bush Hotel Environmental Management Program (EMP) Up and running successfully for over a year our Environmental Management Programme has ensured significant reduction in our total waste output and also in eliminating where possible the hotel's environmental impact in Carrick on Shannon. Human Resources Update Bush Family Fun Day for Staff The Bush Hotel is holding its Family Fun Day on Sunday, 24th August for the staff and their families to relax, unwind and keep in touch with friends, colleagues and their families.  Organised by the Bush Sports & Social Club, all the staff are looking forward to an enjoyable day with lots of activities organised to keep the kiddies happy while the adults mingle and enjoy a tasty barbeque. Happy People making People Happy! The ethos of the hotel is "happy poeple making people happy" and this is achieved by a number of initiatives, including a mentoring program, QEP program and a management supported Sports & Social Club and of course our competitive remuneration. Various events and outings arranged through the Sports & Social Club are open to all staff.  These social occasions are mainly informal in a friendly, relaxed environment and help to encourage good communication within the workforce. Something's Cooking at the Bush Hotel! Having worked at the Bush Hotel for a number of years, Chef, Hugh McPartland, loves his work and says "you're learning everyday. It's a job you never get bored with."Hughie hopes to share his skills with some locals in the coming weeks when he takes part in a local cookery course. One of his favourite dishes featured recently in the 'Leitrim Post'. Well done Hughie! English Classes The Bush Hotel regularly holds English classes for its non-national personnel. Emphasis is on Hotel/Guest English and there has been fantastic interest and attendance at the classes.  It is hoped that this commitment will continue and this will be a huge success. Various flags representing the identity of our 74 hard-working, conscientious employees from 15 different countries are to be found in our newly refurbished Reception Area.
